WORLD WAR I POSTER
Scarce World War I poster, 28" x 42", depicts three French women working in a foundry producing artillery shells with a YWCA/YMCA-sponsored "House of Cheer" visible through the window. At top the poster reads: "FOUR YEARS IN THE FIGHT The Women of France We Owe Them Houses of Cheer". Fine. The "Houses of Cheer" were forerunners of USO clubs, offering places of rest, relaxation and entertainment to soldiers and defense workers abroad.
Estimate $ 300-400
