WINSTON S. CHURCHILL(1874 - 1965) British Prime Minister who led England through the Blitz and orchestrated the British liberation of occupied Europe and Germany. Churchill is today considered perhaps the greatest statesman of this century. S.P. 8" x 6" b/w, mounted on white card stock, depicting the distinguished and resolute old warrior from the waist, up, at his library desk with cigar in hand, signed "Winston S. Churchill" on the mount at bottom. A short poem honoring Churchill published in a newspaper is affixed at bottom of the photo and reads, in part: "...This is the chief who thunders in the storm: 'Let it roar, and let it rage! We shall come through'...". Photograph taken by Douglass Glass for the Sunday Times. Photograph fine, mount has some slight foxing, else very good.
