Sale 38 Lot 880

A.L.S. 1p. 8vo., on his blind-embossed letterhead, London, Aug. 18, 1917, to Lord Provost, in part: "...I am sending your letter to the newly appointed Minister of National Service, and asking him to consider it as early and as favorably as possible...". Churchill had been named Minister of Munitions almost exactly a month before this letter and, during his tenure as such, used his position to influence military strategy, including increasing the production and use of tanks. Slight mounting trace to verso, very good.
