WILLIAM L. CABELL(1829 - 1911) Confederate brigadier general of cavalry who served under Van Dorn in the Trans-Mississippi and was later captured while leading his brigade at Marais des Cygnes. Fine content war-date A.D.S. signed in full at bottom and "Cabell" again in the text, 1p. 4to., Fort Smith, Ark., Dec. 6, 1862, a slave bill of sale in which Elias Rector sells to Catherine Cabell of Sebastion Co., Arkansas: "...a negro girl named Mary, eight years old, a slave for life, sound in body and mind...", signed by Cabell at lower-left. Folds, overall very good.
