WILL ROGERS(1879 - 1939) American humorist and author who delivered his homespun humor in a hilarious, offhand manner. T.L.S., 1p., 4to., [n.p., n.d.], to Watson Webb, in part: "...I just learned in a kind of roundabout way that you were in the insurance business. I had no idea in the world you had any business outside polo, but it was a relief to know there was one Polo man that at least retained some degree of business...I suppose you could paper your barn with letters from friends and relatives wanting you to place a friend in your business somewhere, Well just start bedding down the stall with this one, for it's just another one of those things, I got a nephew there...I wouldn't waste a knock in on you with this boy if he was just one looking to try and stay in the great City, but he is a kinder low goal man in that same racket you are. He too in his early days saw the possibility of working on the property owners superstition and making them think that every match lit will eventually reach the hook and ladder stage...". A charming letter written in Will Rogers' unique style. Mounted, else very good.
Estimate $ 200-300
