THE CUSTER EXPEDITION TO BLACK HILLS An interesting newspaper, the Aug. 27, 1874 edition of Free Press, Mount Pleasant, Ia., 4pp., folio. On the second page there is an article describing Custer's expedition and findings in the expired Sioux reservation Black Hills, Wyoming Territory. In small part: "...The expedition thus far has met with no resistance from the Indians...Gold and silver are found in numerous places...All reports, with Gen. Custer's official dispatches, agree in proclaiming this country a second El Dorado in mineral wealth and an Eden in picturesque loveliness...". Usual folds, very light staining in parts, overall very good condition.
Estimate $ 200-300
