SECURING HIDES FOR THE CONTINENTAL ARMY An interesting lot of seven war-date receipts, requisitions, and a general order for the procurement of hides for the Continental Army, 1p. sm. 8vo. to 12mo., Oct. 3-11, 1777. Includes a true copy of a General Order from Oct. 10, 1777, in part: "...Agreeable to an order by Major General Putnam, I have received of James Richardson (Adjutant General) twenty-four be accounted for...". With the original directive from "Headquarters, Fishkill, Oct. 9, 1777", stating that Gen. Putnam approved the requisition. Very good to fine condition, seven pieces. Along with three Revolutionary War home front letters, Litchfield, 1777-79, with observations about the enemy fleet sailing below Peekskill, joining the current campaign, and so forth. Entire lot totaling ten pieces.
