RUDYARD KIPLING T.L.S. 1p. 4to., Burwash, Feb. 7, 1915 to Louis Evan Shipman, in part: "...I cannot see my way to accept membership of the Dunlap Society...all the money which one may have to spare is required for purposes connected with the war; and I should not feel myself justified in spending any on personal interests...". Paper clip stains at top, and two neat slits at right margin, wrinkles, still good to very good. Seven months later Kipling's son would be killed at the front.
