MARCELLA SEMBRICH(1858 - 1935) Dramatic soprano, made her debut at Athens in 1877, in "I Puritani," and afterwards sang at Vienna, Dresden, London, and New York. Good content A.L.S. on her monogrammed letterhead, 2pp. 8vo., [n.p.], Dec. 29, 1899, to author ESTHER SINGLETON, in part: "...I want to thank you very much for your interesting book which seems to me the very best of the kind I have ever seen. It must be a great value to any reader to have your intelligent remarks on the Music...". The letter is tucked into Singleton's copy of her work A Guide to the Opera, Dodd, Mead & Co., New York, 1899, first edition, the author's personal copy signed by Singleton on the front flyleaf. The letter bears a short, clean split at one fold, the book had cracked, loose gutters and spine ends are worn, otherwise good.
