MACDOWELL COLONY CITATION EDWARD MACDOWELL (1861-1908) American pianist and composer, the first American composer to be internationally acclaimed, remembered for his piano compositions and concertos. A great association piece, a partly-printed "MacDowell Colony Citation" presented to New York mayor John V. Lindsay for "...his contribution to the Arts and his generous support in behalf of the creative talents of Artists and Performers in the City of New York...". The citation is printed on heavy stock measuring 11" x 14", and is signed by seven luminaries in the world of performance: AARON COPLAND, WILLIAM SCHUMAN, MARIAN ANDERSON, ALICE TULLY, PIERRE BOULEZ, DUKE ELLINGTON, and RUSSELL TYNES. Fine condition.
