ISAAC INGALLS STEVENSScarce A.L.S. "I. I. Stevens", 1p. 8vo., Washington, Apr. 14, 1851 to Prof. Baird. In part: "...It was not Prof. Bache's expectation that we should do more than furnish the plates. The printing we are hardly prepared for. We have not the paper required and to strike off a thousand copies will require ten days' work, interfering seriously with our regular work...the plates had better be sent to Boston...". A few ink blots in text, else fine. Stevens was at the time assistant in charge of the Coast Survey Office in Washington.
