INDIANS AND TORIES ATTACK AT SUSQUEHANNA FORT Fine content A.L.S., 2pp. 8vo., New Fairfield, May 18, 1779 in which Elijah Sill writes his sister. In part: "...I have rec'd a letter from dear Brother Jabez...soon after he arriv'd at the Fort of Susquehanna the Indians & the White Savages the Tories over three Hundred came and surrounded the Fort. Our people fought them, went out of the Fort, drove them off without any of the People being kill'd - but they drove off almost all their cattle. Poor Brother lost 3 cows one ox...his life was exposed going down the river in a boat...he says he desires to bless God...I heard lately there has been a terrible battle there...". Very good.
