HENRY WILSON'S PERSONAL COPY OF A UNION POW REPORT A great war-date Union prisoner of war related book bound in paper wraps, being the U. S. Sanitary Commissions ca. 1864 report on the deplorable conditions of CSA prisons and depredations committed against Union prisoners therein, entitled: "Narrative of Privations and Suffering of United States Officers & Soldiers while Prisoners of War in the hands of the Rebel Authorities". Included are numerous moving and detailed individual testimonies made by former Union POWs concerning their horrible experiences of starvation, illness, and abuse, including notorious camps such as Andersonville and Belle Isle. Signed on the cover in bold dark ink by Massachusetts Senator HENRY WILSON (1812-1875). Usual wear, else very good.
