HECTOR BERLIOZ(1803 - 1869) French composer, the first among the French Romantics, his works include the "Symphonie fantastique" and "Te Deaum" and "Romeo et Juliette". Fine and rare partial A.M.Q. (unsigned), measuring about 6" x 8", [n.p., n.d. but likely 1836-1837], on lined musical paper, a five-measure fragment from Ascanio's aria from "Benvenuto Cellini". It reads: "Qu'entends-je...les fondeurs". Removed from a larger sheet. Benvenuto Cellini premiered at the Paris Opera in 1838, and the manuscript dates from 1836-37. Bearing the expected irregular margins, but boldly penned and overall very good condition. With COA from the Ministry of Culture, Paris.
