GIUSEPPE VERDI(1813 - 1901) Italian composer who helped develop opera into a fully integrated art form, his works include "Il Travatore", "La Traviata", "Aida", and "Don Carlos", to name but a few. Scarce A.L.S. "G. Verdi", 2pp. 8vo., Genoa, Mar. 10, 1899 to Giulio Ricardi, Habot Muzicale, Milan, in Italian. In part: "...We have arrived! Snow, always snow until Genoa, and here it is going to rain again. Peppina is at the funeral for the death of a priest who was the founder of Montebuono of the Miaganelli. Good people and very useful. Thank you for everything you have done for me...I have found...some watercolors...one is a copy of S. Cecilia from Donatello on silver paper. They are rather ugly. I am returning both of them...the painter's name is not known. If you know something about him please write to me...". Fine condition, beautifully framed with his holograph transmittal envelope and an early image, signed on recto and framed so that both sides of letter are visible
