GETTYSBURG HOSPITAL TRAIN "SMASH-UP" TELEGRAM An unusual war-date Camp Letterman related telegram, 1p. 8vo., sent by Dr. Stonelake, U. S. A., Hanover Junction, Pa., Oct. 2, [1863], to Camp Letterman Medical Director Henry Janes concerning a train wreck that occurred with injured Union soldiers aboard while Camp Letterman was being evacuated. In full: "...Three miles this side of the Junction train smashed up. Our car slightly damaged only. No one hurt. Will provide for the men & may connect with midnight train...".
