GEORGE N. HOLLINSConfederate naval officer attaining the rank of Commodore. Rare war-date A.L.S. 1p. 4to., New Madrid, Mar. 9, 1862, as Flag Officer CSA on the Flag Ship MaKala, to L. Averett [?], in part: "...You will use the 'Red Rover' as Quarters, for the officers and men of the Floating Battery under your Command...You will not allow her to be used without a Special Order from You...Enclosed, you will please find a report made, on the condition of the 'Red Rover' by her chief engineer...". Loss at left margin costs no text, otherwise light staining at bottom margin, very good condition.
