GEORGE III ANNOUNCES THE 1814 TREATY OF PARIS Important broadside, 12" x 15", June 27, 1814, headed: "A PROCLAMATION", in part: "...Whereas a Definitive Treaty of Peace and Friendship between His Majesty and His Most Christian Majesty, hath been concluded at Paris...[will] be observed invioably, as well by Sea as Land, and in all places whatsoever...". Signed at top in type, and at bottom by three sheriffs. Printed in London by George Eyre and Andrew Strahan. A few dampstains in body of text, else very good. The Treaty of Paris of 1814 was one of two which ended the wars of the Napoleonic era. It created a peace between several European nations, namely the United Kingdom, Russia, Austria, Sweden, Portugal and Prussia, and reapportioned several territories amongst various countries. Most notably, France retained all of the territory which it possessed as of January 1, 1792, and also was returned the territories lost to Britain during the war. The most notable result was the enforcement of the abdication of Napoleon, and the restoration of the House of Bourbon.
