ENRICO CARUSO(1873 - 1921) Italian tenor, very possibly the greatest of all time. His repertoire included over 40 operas such as "I Pagliacci" and "La Boheme". Wonderful vintage I.S.P. 4 3/4" x 9" (sight), a sepia portrait of Caruso in full-length attired in an elaborate costume, boldly inscribed at top to Mrs. Buggioni, and dated May 1911. Caruso adds "Saga", a Swedish vessel connecting to South American ports, and clearly from whence the piece was signed, with an original pamphlet from the boat included in the lot. A moderate to heavy crease across bottom, some silvering to the image, handsomely matted and framed in gilt. Not examined out of frame.
Estimate $ 800-1,000
