Sale 38 Lot 417

A Civil War era "mourning cross", displayed in remembrance of a dead family member, a white layered Victorian paper pressed into an attractive cross; 5 1/4" in height, 3 1/2" in width attached to a field of black velvet, laid into the original gilt painted wood frame, 8 3/4" x 7 3/4". Although the cross is slightly faded, it remains quite impressive against the black velvet. Frame paint is chipped, wooden backing is intact. Altogether, an impressive Victorian mourning piece.
