ALEXANDER S. ASBOTH(1811 - 1868) Union brigadier general of Hungarian birth, he served as Fremont's chief of staff and was later severely wounded at both Marianna and Pea Ridge. Rare signed CDV photograph "A. As both" showing the bewhiskered general in uniform from chest, up, boldly signed in black ink at bottom. Backstamp by Piffet, New Orleans, with canceled two cent revenue stamp. Extreme corners clipped, else near fine.
