ALBERT KESSELRING
T.L.S., 2pp., 4to, Werl Prison, November 9, 1951, on carbon-paper in German recommending employment for Eduard Duwall. In part: "...I do not come with a favor to me. I would like to recommend a prisoner of the Allied Prison, who is allotted us former generals as a room attendant, and who is a clean and orderly person...". Kesselring, writing with what must have been authority even behind bars, commends Duwall and notes his war-time commendations, including the Verwundeten-Abziechen (Golden Wound Badge, similar to the Purple Heart) and the Eisernes-Kreuz II (Iron Cross- Class 2). Boldly signed "Kesselring" in blue ink. Punch
Estimate $ 300-400
