(ABRAHAM LINCOLN) ORVILLE H. BROWNING(1806 - 1881) Kentucky-born lawyer who assisted Lincoln to organize the Republican Party at the Bloomington Convention, later Secretary of the Interior under Andrew Johnson. Early legal A.D.S. signed twice "O. H. Browning", 1p. oblong 4to., [n.p.], July 21, 1838. While being deposed as a witness in the case involving Enoch Moore against James Price, Browning replies: "...O. H. Browning being first duly sworn deposeth and saith that he is informed and verily believes that the above names Defts. are not inhabitants of this state...". Fine.
